Agencies visit A-R sitesMembers of the East Arkansas Planning and Development District (EAPDD) and the Puerto Rico Authority of Solid Waste Management visited Arizona Asphalt-Rubber sites in October. The EAPDD was represented by Richard Spelic, executive director; Stacy Murry, tire program coordinator; and Charlie Wood, solid waste program coordinator. The Puerto Rican group consisted of Lydia Perez Plaza, planning specialist; Manuel Barrios, scrap tire coordinator; Brenda Colon Blanco, contamination prevention coordinator; and Luz Dalisa Fraticelli, legal advisor. The tour started at PolyTek Southwest, one of the largest fire recycling facilities in the country. It included a discussion of waste tire management programs with officials of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and Maricopa County. Also on the schedule was a luncheon at Bank One Ballpark and a visit to an Asphalt-Rubber blending unit. Annual meeting set for January 27Below Monterey Bay lies a canyon as deep and

end. Coming soonThe Quality Control Manual for Asphalt-Rubber Contractors is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The manual, authored by Drs. Gary Hicks and Jon Epps, is based on interviews by Asphalt-Rubber contractors throughout the U.S. The Life Cycle Cost Analysis for Asphalt-Rubber Paving Material, a comprehensive research project by Oregon State University and the University of Nevada Reno, will soon be available to all state agencies and technology transfer centers on a CD ROM. A shortened version to be presented by Dr. Hicks in Australia is available in the RPA Library. |
