Arizona State Univ
wants national research center
Will conduct
A-R research
- Arizona State University
is actively seeking funding to create a National Center for High
Performance Pavement Materials.
The mission of the proposed center will be to conceive and develop
advanced generation, high performance pavement materials while
creating the needed technology and human capital base through
an integrated agenda in research, education and training, knowledge
management and technology transfer.
According to Dr. Matthew Witczak, professor of Civil and Environmental
Engineering, research will focus on key enabling areas, including:
novel paving materials concepts, enhanced design and process
concepts, advanced material characterization, performance and
distress analysis and prediction models, impact of environmental
conditions on performance and life and environmental impact.
Material to be investigated include superpave mixtures, Asphalt-Rubber
, other recycled materials including value-added waste materials,
new modified materials, geo synthetics and high performance concrete.
