| Description |
Testing
was concerned with evaluating asphalt rubber (A/R) interlayers
in regards to their effectiveness in minimizing reflective cracking.
Viscosity and ductility tests were performed on the A/R binder.
Two special tests, horizontal shear and vertical shear, were
developed to compare A/R and RC-250 as a SAL. The vertical shear
test indicated the principal benefits of the A/R came from maintaining
its pliability at low temperatures. No significant difference
was noted at 77 degrees F between the A/R and RC-250 by the vertical
shear test. |
