Description	Asphalt-Rubber (A-R) has been used in 45 states and four continents for 20 years in the following types of application: SAM Stress Absorbing Membrane (Seal Coats) SAMI Stress Absorbing Membrane Interlayer Asphalt-Rubber Hot Mix Design mixtures of crumb rubber from waste tires and asphalt cement were developed by C.H. McDonald along with industry, demonstrations (FHWA), research by Universities and agencies both here in the United States and abroad. As more and more projects were placed, it becomes obvious Asphalt-Rubber did not fall within known properties of standard asphalt. Observations were made by Engineers and Scientist indicating property values far better than the standards.
