| Description | This paper deals with the development of an open graded asphalt for traffic noise reduction in urban areas. In urban traffic the rolling noise is of little importance, but the propulsion noise becomes dominant. This has a great impact, especially on the lower frequencies. A mix is developed, based on only crushed aggregate with sizes 4 to 8 mm and filler. In order to comply with the requirements of mechanical stability and durability a rubberized bitumen has been used. |
