| Description |
This
paper presents the results of a study directed toward the solution
of the reflection cracking problem in overlaid cracked pavements.
Stresses in the overlay pavement near the existing crack are
estimated using a recently developed finite element program for
the pavement system idealization. Crack tip stresses for both
traffic leading and temperature changes are calculated; the influence
of a stress absorbing membrane interlayer (SAMI) on these stresses
is examined and compared with the case for the overlay placed
directly on the cracked pavement. |
