| Description |
Bitumen-rubber is a mixture of bitumen, granulated
rubber reclaimed from old vehicle tires and additives such as extender oils
and/or diluents. The product can either manufactured on site in the distributor
or in a conveniently situated plant near the site. Basically the process
consists of the addition of a specified quantity of rubber to hot bitumen of
the specified grade. The resultant reacted bitumen-rubber mixture has radically
different properties form those of the original components. It has unique
elastic, plastic and thermal properties and adheres well to aggregates and road
surfaces. These properties make the product very suitable for maintenance and
rehabilitation.
